how to rid a trojan horse?

I have a virus on my computer….a trojan horse…. my tool bar keeps popping up, alerting me there is a virus, i have this avast! antivirus Bull… ran a virus scan and deleted the supposed virus but it’s still here!!! I need help plz! I hear trojan horses are bad to have on ur computer, so now i unplug my computer from the internet every time i go sleep or to work…. also, there is this windo that pops up, and if i click it, it trys to get me to download some spyware in the form of spyware blockers, etc, telling me there is a worm and trojan horse on my computer

When you are using Avast! you should do a boot time scan. Right click the interface and schedule a boot time scan

Also try these programs for spyware/adware(get the free versions they can detect and remove)
Download and update Malwarebytes AntiMalware

In some cases you need to scan in safe mode, internet disconnected and system restore off
To enter safe mode press f8 while booting

Also in some cases(for downloading anti-malware) you need to enter safe mode with networking instead

Also you may want to use Hijackthis and post a log on a computer help forum
