I have AVG free virus protection and need some help?

I was looking at a page on the Runescape Wiki and all of a sudden, the pages switched, and then AVG told me it had detected a threat. I already have a Trojan horse infection in my virus vault. If it is in the vault, is it any longer a threat to my computer? And about this other threat it detected, how do I get rid of it? Any advice on how to work AVG? Thanks in advance!!! Any information about how AVG works is helpful!!! Thanks!! Oh, and details please!!!

Well , for one, avg free has no root kit protection.. might reconsider your choice of free av.. i would go with avira or avast..
