How to get rid of a Trojan Backdoor/Startpage Virus?

A few days ago my computer crashed after getting on myspace. We had to redo everything and now it’s up and running.. I installed AVG antivirus (which I had before my PC crashed) and I keep getting a thing popping up telling me there is a threat detected from a Trojan Horse Backdoor and I got one for a Trojan Horse Startpage.CLT also. I went to my computer and right clicked on my properties and checked the no restore box …now my AVG is scanning and 3 viruses have been found ..they are the trojan horse startpage.CLT viruses.. is there any way I can get rid of those and stop my AVG from bringing up the threat detected popup? I was using IE but after reading on here some, I downloaded Mozilla Firefox for my browser and am not going to use IE anymore.

I would also get the McAfee Site Advisor,because it warns users when downloading software or filling out forms on a web site that may make them victims of malware or spam.
