Nanoparticles and Nanoparticle Therapy

At long lasts some good news about cancer!  Yes, nanoparticles are being set to revolutionise treatments in cancers.  Nanoparticle therapy is in the process of being developed in the realms of cancer research as a way of treating cancers, previously thought of as terminal.  These untreatable forms of cancer, for example peritoneal cancer, have a good chance of being treated with a new technique in the form of nanoparticle therapy.

Researchers are using the idea of the Trojan horse concept in these artificially produced cells.  The idea is that nanoparticles can invade cancer areas without being recognised by the immune system and release a toxic trail of drug into the cancer directly.  Killing the cancer without harming good tissue is non-evasive and safe when taking into consideration the administration of radiation through traditional methods.  Nanoparticle therapy can touch the places that no other treatment can reach.

Even better news is that trials are already taking place all over the world and with highly reputable organisations, like Cancer Research UK, giving this a ‘thumbs up’; this has got to provide hope for those who would not have had this in previous years.
