Slow Computer
Computer Runs Slow

A slow computer is extremely frustrating and it costs you both time and money. It’s generally easy to solve. You need to understand that you’re working with a machine that has to have all things in order to maintain top speed. When you have something that’s not working right then you have something that’s also draining the system resources. It is important to realize that Slow Computer Performance is almost always the fault of the owner. There is nothing in a computer’s design that was manufactured for the sole reason of driving you crazy.
A slow running system is what most windows users lament. Sometimes it’s just a matter of outdated hardware and a few bucks for a new motherboard or an extra GB of ram will get it running up to speed. But most of the time it’s your windows becoming a hog.
If you’ve never cleaned out the files on your computer then it’s going to run slow. This is something that’s very common because people aren’t aware that the computer will actually build up files from the internet and software programs that are stored.
Here’s a simple no-brainer activity but some people don’t even know about this. This simple step can be done by right clicking on the recycle bin on the desktop and by choosing empty recycle bin. Clean out the temporary internet files as well. If you experience some trouble accessing the many websites, then fixing slow computer can be efficiently carried out by ensuring that the internet explorer will not store the temporary internet files. Just go to tools and internet options and under options select the general tab. At the bottom of the window, you will see the section that says ‘amount of disk space use’. If this is set to 500 megabytes or higher, I recommended you reset this to 250 megabytes. On the same internet tools window, ensure that the internet explorer will delete all the temporary internet files every time the browser closes.
There are some things you can do to speed up a slow computer that are easy and free. With use, the data that’s stored on your hard drive gets fragmented, or kind of scattered around the hard drive and when the computer looks for it, it’s difficult to find and takes longer. Running the defragment program that is already installed on your slow computer will put the data back in order and your computer will be able to find it easier. Defragmenting takes some time, especially if you don’t do it regularly, so it should be done when your computer won’t be in use, like overnight. If you have more than one hard drive, do it over two different nights, or one overnight and one while you’re at work. To help speed up a terminally slow computer you should defragment it weekly or every other week.
Another step you can take to speed up your computer is to delete files that aren’t used or rarely used on the system. These programs often start up every time the computer loads and these can slow down the performance of the computer. If you can’t afford to lose these programs, then just simply take them off the system tray and make sure that these programs will not start up every time the computer loads. Just be sure to carefully do that and only remove those programs that you don’t really need.
Hopefully you have an antivirus program installed on your computer. What you may not know is that many antivirus programs install some files that you may not use, some of which are constantly running. If you think this may be a cause of your slow computer you could uninstall your antivirus and then reinstall it using the custom settings and choose only what you want to install onto your computer. Make sure that your antivirus does a full scan once or twice a week and is always running and on the lookout for new viruses.
Many times a slow computer is the result of a bloated registry, a virus or spyware. This registry is a log of all the files on your computer. Applications, files, programs, and all other important computer data is stored in your registry. Essentially, the registry is an instruction manual for windows, acting as a step-by-step guide for functioning. A big part of the registry contains program shortcuts. When your registry is changed sometimes these files get lost, this makes your computer run slower. A computer’s slow performance is usually due to a problem with the registry.

You should run a registry program to find out and fix any registry issue on the slow computer. A bad or corrupted registry leads to a slow computer. Too many invalid, wrong and bad registries will affect the computer speed and slow it down. Your computer may freezes because of these registry errors. Frankly speaking, registry errors are unavoidable because you install, uninstall applications, games, and programs on your pc frequently. That will modify and leave invalid registry entries and sometimes will spoil registry keys. So you must clean up the registry errors on a regular basis. Registry clean software will help you detect and repair those registry errors in just a short span of time.
Registry error software can easily take care of these and other nasty problems on your computer.
