How can I find an older System Restore point on my Windows computer?

I have had this Vista laptop for about a year and it has worked well, once I got over my unfamiliarity with Vista. It has begun to slow down and “hang” occasionally, though, which is an irritation when you are playing timed games online, etc. I was thinking of actually upgrading the whole system to Windows 7 but then I realized that I might be able to return the system to something like its originally snappy performance using System Restore. When I look into it, however, there is only one automatic checkpoint that I can restore to, and it is the most recent one: the date is yesterday! If Restore is working the way it should, it seems like there should be dozens if not hundreds of possible restore points. What should I do to get it to show more than the most recent restore point? start –> all programs –> accessories – -> system tools –>system restore–> restore my computer to an earlier time –> see the dates in dark blue color (these are your restore points)
