computer startup is very slow??

my computer is running slow when on startup, it goes for 30 – 40 rounds at the windows xp thing and when it reaches the welcome screen, it sounds draggy. it’s also slow when i open a program. my comp gt intel core 2 duo 2.66ghz, 500gb hdd (440gb free space), 4gb of RAM, geforce 8500gt graphic card……. i tried msconfig, virus scanning, defrag, %tmp%…… well, it still the same, tell me what’s the problem

You can click start—–click run—–type msconfig——click startup tabs,then you can uncheck programes that dont need to run at startup.Then click ok to exist..And you also can go visit http://www.make-computer-faster.com/index.php?t=makepcf to download a speedup software.
