Can a power outage slow down the computer’s performance?

A few days ago, my computer wasn’t working due to a power outage, which in someway damaged the motherboard. I could’nt turn on my computer for a week, but today when I turned on the computer, it worked! However, I am kinda scared that the power outage could of damaged something on the motherboard or hardware (Ram, cpu etc.) and is slowing down the computer’s performance. So my question is, is it true that a hardware either works or is broken, and it’s not possible for a hardware to slow down because of a power outage? Everything seems to work.

When power fluctuations physically damage a component, the damage is usually permanent. Computers cannot fix themselves. I don’t know why it didn’t work for the week, but it is almost impossible to find out now that it is working.

In general, if nothng is broken, it should not be running any slower than it did before.
