Slow Computer Fix – How To Fix A Slow Xp Computer By Modifying Windows Registry

1. Shorten waiting time: go to Start -> Run -> type “regedit” and then press Enter to open Registry Editor.
1) Locate “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control” and change its value data to “1000″ or less. (Default: 20000).
2)locate “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop” and change the value data of “WaitToKillAppTimeout” to “1000″ (Default: 20000), which means only to wait one minute when closing programs; and then change the value data of “HungAppTimeout” from the default “5000″ to “2000″ — wait only 0.5 minute when there is a system error.
2. Let the system automatically turn off the programs that stop responding:
Locate “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop”->and change the original value data from “0″ to “1″.
3. To fix a slow XP computer, you should speed up the menu display speed:
Locate “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop” and then change the value data of “MenuShowDelay” to “0″. Hence, you will find that your menu will become surprisingly fast.
4. Speed up file sharing: delete the {D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF} within “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RemoteComputer\NameSpace”.
5. Increase Windows display speed so as to fix a slow computer:
Locate “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics” and then “MinAniMate” in the right-hand pane. By default, its original value is “1″, which means to open window animation. You can change it to “0″. You can change it to “0″ to disable it so as to fix a slow XP computer at startup.
With the rather simple modification above you can easily finish “slow computer fix”.
