How do you remove a trojan horse agent?

Whenever I load internet explorer a message from AVG pops up saying Trojan Horse Agent.4.P found, I click remove all the time but it doesn’t seem to work. What should l do and what kind of malware is this? Does it log keystrokes because I do a lot of internet banking. This message also comes sometimes when I open a folder from the desktop, sometimes a message comes up displaying another Downloader.generic. something is found, I did the same thing and it removed it from my PC. What should I do about all this? Please help as I tried searching for this particular trojan horse and nothing relevant comes up.
