free avg antivirus edition cannot update?

i just downloaded avg to get rid of some viruses. i’ve beeen having this redirecting problem when searching on google. on top of that, ive also been getting pop ups like crazy. so i uninstalled mcafee because it was not working properly and i could not go onto their main website, then i downloaded avg. i just downloaded avg and it already says that i need to update it. i tried but i cant even get to avg’s main website. avg is scanning my computer right now, and it found tons of threats but how can i get rid of them when the scans done? will i still be able to use the antivirus and antispyware if its out of date???

what you have got is malicious software NOT a virus.

use malwarebytes first.

you can get malwarebytes here,
this is a direct download link so you should have no trouble getting it.
click on this link ↓ and then select run.

install it, update it, then run a full scan and delete everything it finds.

some viruses will disable it so
if malwarebytes will not startup
then go into the folder it is in and rename the mbam file to XXX
then double click on the file you just renamed to start it up.

after you have used malwarebytes then do this online scan.
to make sure you have nothing else hiding away.
