avast or norton internet security with firewall from att and yahoo?

i have norton internet security with firewall that came with my account from at&t high-speed internet. i recently just scanned my computer for adware virus and spyware. the results showed that everything was going fine and everything is running well. i then inserted my flash drive from sandisk that came with a prinstalled anti virus (avast). i know that i had just recently scanned my computer for viruses with norton but i was curious so i scanned my computer with avast. when the scan just started a warning poped up that one of my files was infected with an adware (win32:adware-gen). i could not believe it because i had just scanned. so then i clicked the file that was infected and scanned it with Norton. it said again that it was all fine and nothing was wrong. i then opened ad-aware and spybot and they did not report anything. i then deleted the file and i got to thinking of if i should change my anti virus prgram form norton to avast. which should i pick?

Norton at best is a mediocre over-advertised program with very poor support since being bought by Network Associates. As a adware scanner it really lacks. It is also very heavy on system resources. Go the the desktop control panel for it, disable or turn off, and remove it through add/remove. Get rid of anything Norton or Symantec. Reboot your system and load Avast.
