How to Fix Error Message in Windows 7
When trying to run certain applications on your computer you might experience the Error 126 error. This is a very common error and is normally a result of missing DLL files on your computer.
The error is often noticed when the programs attempt to connect to a database system, these connections require dll files in order to connect properly. Popular database drivers include WinSQL oracle, Microsoft Oracle, and Oracle ODBC driver.
There are also lots of other causes of the Error126 error and there are different solutions to each of these problems.
Correcting the Error 126 Error Problem
If you try to open a sql database in excel then you might see an error message warning you of error126. This will be because the ODBC driver on your computer is not working properly. This means that you will need to install the driver.
The easiest method of fixing the error 126 error message problem is by downloading Microsoft data access components from the Microsoft website. This should help you to rid yourself of the error 126 error message.
The easiest way to get this file though will be by finding it on your windows XP CD. The Windows XP CD will have all the necessary files however most of these are compacted which means they will first need to be extracted.
To expand the file follow the following procedure
Run command prompt by pressing Windows Key + R, then typing cmd
In command prompt type in “d:i386srsvc.dl_ c:windowssystem32srvsvc.dll”
Remember that if your CD drive is a different letter to drive d then you will need to substitute in your own letter. Once you have done this you can try to restart the server service.
