Hyperlink in Excel Error Message?

Hi- I created a hyperlink to another excel doc. & the link works fine. However upon saving the document, it seems that excel changes the address of the hyperlink path & therefore I can not open the hyperlink. Does anyone know why it does this? I tried manually cutting & pasting the address also but again upon saving the error message says “cannot open the specified file”. Any help would be great. Thanks!

There are a few things to check…
1. Excel files saved as excel workbook format? if not, is something like excel 5.0/95 workbook format, it won’t support hyperlink, before you close file, the link still work, but not on reopen. You can check that at File, Save as…, File format.
2. The link you copy and paste, where the link address come from? If it is from a address box, it might not be completed. Try to paste the link to a blank area, and check the path and file name to confirm.
3. If above 2 are checked, consider repairing MS office, pop the MS office CD in, when there are choices to repair, add/remove features, uninstall, choose repair and follow the instructions.
