does anyone know how to stop messenger loading up on startup of computer?

When i switch my computer on obviously it loads everything up in the system tray, but then it slows down while it loads messenger, and pops up with the sign in thingy. I want to take it off my startup/system tray so that i can just click on the icon on my desktop to use the programme. Is it possible to do this does anyone know? I would be most grateful for any help.

go to start/run.. type in msconfig
then choose the startup tab at the top
then uncheck all programmes u dont want to start up
