Model Network Security – Definition of a strategy for enterprise security
Overview
These are the five primary security groups that should be considered with any model of corporate security. These include security policy, the perimeter, network, security and transaction control. They are all part of any strategy Security efficient company. Every enterprise network has a perimeter that is all circuits and equipment that connect networks outside public and private. The internal network is composed of all servers, applications, data, and devices used for business operations. The demilitarized zone (DMZ) is a place between the internal network and the perimeter includes firewalls and servers public. It allows some access for external users to these servers and network traffic which denies reach internal servers. This does that all external users will be denied access to internal networks. Instead, an appropriate security policy specifies who may access to what and where. For example teleworkers use VPN concentrators on the perimeter to access Windows servers and Unix. As business partners and could use a VPN connection to access the company extranet S/390 mainframe. Define what security is necessary for all servers to protect corporate applications and files. Identify operating protocols necessary to secure data that travels on network segments secure and unsecure. Surveillance activities should be defined so as to examine packets in real time as a defense strategy and a pro-active protection against internal and external attacks. A recent survey revealed that attacks internal disgruntled employees and consultants are more common than attacks by hackers. Detection of virus must be addressed since allowed sessions could be carrying a virus to the application layer with an e-mail or file transfer.
Security policy Document
The document describes the different security policies for all employees using the corporate network. It specifies that the employee is authorized to do and with what resources. The policy includes non-employees, as well as consultants, employees, partners, customers and terminated. In addition, security policies are defined for Internet e-mail virus scanners. He defines this cyclic process if used to review and improve security.
Perimeter Security
This describes a first line defense that external users face before authentication on the network. It is security for the traffic whose source and destination is an external network. Many components are used to secure the perimeter of a network. The assessment reviews all devices currently used perimeter. Typical devices are perimeter firewalls, external routers, servers, TACACS, RADIUS servers, online servers, hubs VPNs and modems.
Network Security
It is defined as the entire server and security Host legacy that is used to authenticate and authorize employees internal and external. When a user was authenticated by the security Perimeter is the security that must be treated before starting applications. The network exists to carry traffic between workstations and network applications. network applications are implemented on a shared server could be running an operating system like Windows, Unix or Mainframe MVS. It is the responsibility of the operating system to store data, respond to requests for data and maintain the security of this data. Once a user is authenticated to a Windows domain with a specific user account, they have privileges that were granted to this account. These privileges would have access to specific directories to one or more servers, launch applications, and administer all or part of Windows servers. When the user authenticates to the Windows Active Directory services distributed there is no specific server. There is enormous benefit management and availability of all the accounts from its managed from a centralized point of view and copies of database security are maintained at different servers across the network. Unix and mainframe hosts usually require opening session to a particular system, but the rights to the network could be distributed to many hosts.

Transaction Security
Transaction security work in perspective dynamics. It attempts to secure each session with five major activities. They are non-repudiation, integrity, authentication, confidentiality and detection of viruses. The security of transactions so that session data is secured before being transported across the enterprise or Internet. This is important when dealing with the Internet since the data are vulnerable to those who use the valuable information without permission. E-commerce employs some industry standards such as SET and SSL, which describe a set of protocols that provide non-repudiation, integrity, authentication and confidentiality. Similarly detection of virus ensures secure transactions by examining the data files for signs of infection the virus before they are transported to an internal user or before they are sent across the Internet. The following table describes security protocols industry-standard transaction.
Non-repudiation – RSA Digital Signatures
Integrity – Authentication MD5 Road
Authentication – digital certificates
Privacy – IPSec/IKE/3DES
Detection of the virus – McAfee / Norton Antivirus Software
Safety Monitoring
network traffic monitoring security attacks, vulnerabilities and unusual events is essential to any security strategy. This assessment identifies strategies and applications are being used. The following is a list that describes some of the traditional monitoring solutions. intrusion detection sensors are available for monitoring traffic in real time as it arrives at your perimeter. IBM Internet Security Scanner is a tool for assessing vulnerability of excellent essays that should be taken into consideration for your organization. Messaging Server Syslog is a standard Unix program found at many companies who writes security events in a log file for review. It is important to have audit trails to record changes in the network and help to isolate security issues. Large companies that use lots of analog lines to dial modems sometimes use online scanners to determine the open lines that could be exploited by hackers security. security features is the access badge typical equipment and servers that host mission critical data. Badge system records specific date and time that each employee entered the telecommunications room and left. Cameras may record what specific activities were carried out as well.
Prevention sensors Intrusion (IPS)
Market Cisco IPS Sensors (IPS) for enterprise customers to improve security posture of the enterprise network. Cisco IPS 4200 Series sensors use at strategic locations on the network inside and outside protect the switches, routers and servers against hackers. IPS sensors examine the real-time traffic network or online, comparing the packets with signatures predefined. If the sensor detects suspicious behavior he will send an alarm, drop the packet and take evasive action to counter attack. The IPS sensor can be deployed in-line IPS, IDS, where the traffic does not flow through a device or a hybrid. Most sensors within the network data center will be designated IPS mode with its security features dynamic thwart attacks as they occur. Note that the IOS Intrusion Prevention is now available with the router as an option.
Vulnerability Benchmark Testing (VAST)
IBM Internet Security Scanner (ISS) is a vulnerability scanner-based enterprise customers to evaluate network vulnerabilities in terms of external and internal. The software runs on agents and scans of various network devices and servers for known security holes and potential vulnerabilities. The process is composed of network discovery, data collection, analysis and reports. Data are collected from routers, switches, servers, firewalls, workstations, operating systems and network services. potential vulnerabilities are verified by nondestructive testing and made recommendations to correct security problems. It is a reports available with the scanner, which presents the findings of information to staff of the company.
Syslog Server Messaging
Cisco IOS has a program called Unix Syslog reports that activities on a variety of device error conditions. Most routers and switches to generate syslog messages that are sent to a Unix workstation designated for review. If your network management console (NMS) using the Windows platform, there are utilities that allow the display of log files and sending files between Windows and Unix Syslog NMS.

Error Message $116.3 Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. An error message is information displayed when an unexpected condition occurs, usually on a computer or other device. On modern operating systems with graphical user interfaces, error messages are often displayed using dialog boxes. Error messages are used when user intervention is required, to indicate that a desired operation has failed, or to relay important warnings (such as warning a computer user that they are almost out of hard disk space). Error messages are seen widely throughout computing, and are part of every operating system or computer hardware device. Proper design of error messages is an important topic in usability and other fields of humancomputer interaction. Runtime Error 200 $70.1 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Runtime error 200 is the standard error message by Borlands Pascal compilers, standing for Division by zero. Many older computer programs for the MSDOS operating system fail immediately on loading with this error message. In many case they were compiled with an older version of the Borland or Turbo Pascal compiler, which often generated programs which failed if executed on computers with processors faster than about 200 MHz.Borland and Turbo Pascals standard libraries included a procedure called delay(n), code created for halting the execution of the program for a given number of milliseconds. Due to the initializing of the CRT unit, this procedure is called even if the software itself doesnt do it explicitly. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F.
