Computer can’t run/install programs or .exe files?

After inserting an old CD into my computer,everything froze and my computer has been acting up since then. It takes forever to start up, I can’t run .exe files to install things such as automatic updates or winamp (computer freezes), and sometimes it can’t shut down.

Well, like “L” said, it might be a virus. Even though you checked it, the virus might be really good and hides itself in programs. The worst possible virus that you discription describes is the Bot Virus. It hides itself in programs and it knows when you scan it and so it provides a whole bunch of junk so it crashes your computer.

Besides a virus, it could be somthing wrong with your computer, like something on the motherboard. you shoudl try asking a professional and see whats the problem.
