Remove Doctor Web Anti – Virus – How To Remove Doctor Web Anti-Virus Completely
Dr. Web Anti-virus is also known as Anti-virus Doctor Web, it is the antidote for all cumbersome viruses that attach your computer on a daily basis, from the most basic to the most sophisticated. Should you decide, however, to look elsewhere for third party firewall protection and remove Dr. Web and if you’d like to say goodbye to this software for good, follow these instructions:
Remove Dr. Web for Windows manually
Caution: I only have tested the steps below in Windows NT/2000/XP.
Step 1 Go to the Windows built-in Add/Remove Programs list to uninstall Dr. Web Anti-virus
Step 2 In the Registry Editor open the following registry branch:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Remove DrWebScheduler and SpIDerNT keys if they still exist.
Step 3 Uninstall SpIDer Mail® (“spiderml.exe -remove”). If spiderml.exe file has been completely deleted, you will get the massage “SpIDer Mail is not installed”.
Step 4 Uninstall the drivers and services related to SpIDer Guard®: run spidernt.exe -remove, and then check the registry branches blow, if found, delete them:
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SPIDER HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\spidernt
Step 5 Remove HKLM\SOFTWARE\IDAVLab branch completely.
Step 6 Delete any of the following keys if they exist:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Dr.Web for Windows 95-XP HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Dr.Web HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\DRWEB HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\ {BBE2F69C-4338-11D7-8F0C-00A0244F4E2D}
Step 7 Go to Start – Run and input: regsvr32 “C:\Program Files\DrWeb\drwsxtn.dll” /u (assuming Dr.Web software was installed in “C:\Program Files\DrWeb”), and then restart your computer.
Step 8 System restart may be required to delete some files found in the Dr.Web directory. Delete spider.cpl in %windir%\system32 and drwebnet.sys in %windir%\system32\drivers.
Step 9 Restart your computer, and then you may have to perform step 8 once again.
