Anti Virus Guard
Is Anti virus Number 1, a virus?

It pops up in my computer every 30 seconds and I can’t bear anymore.
It tells me that a NN vrus is trying to attack my computer, and asks if I want to block the attack. I click the button NO, (because I already have Bull Guard anti-virus that came with the computer) then pops up a new window giving two options. I click the option “continue unprotected”, then it goes, but after 30 more seconds it pops up again and again. Should I use the restore discs? or do you know another solution?
I have already an antivirus application: Bull

Of course you already have an antivirus application: Bull. As in bullshit. Bullguard is low rated, not popular, and not effective.
Antivirus Number 1 is indeed a virus. More accurately, called a “rouge” application, which is designed to scare uneducated computer users by showing pop ups that say they are infected with certain viruses and such. If you are offline, those pop ups will also pop up, indicating that reports are fake. Removal instructions are in:

http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-antivirus-number-1.html

However, DO NOT download removal tools, since some do remove but in return install some sort of malware on your computer.
To prevent future infections, you should either install Kaspersky’s security software, widely acknowledged as the bedt security program out there. Avira for its high detection rates and good heuristics detection. Or Avast for all around protection that is just plain old good. NEVER USE FREE ANTIVIRUS PRODUCTS!

Antivirus software is a key security technology on todays end user systems. Current antivirus engines use two complementary techniques to detect malware. One is to statically scan potential malware sample files for certain patterns which are known ( malware signatures ). The other is to dynamically detect typical malicious behavior (e.g., modifications of registry keys, DLL injections etc.) upon execution of a sample. No antivirus product can reliably detect malware. Rather, all products are plagued by false positives and false negatives. An interesting approach to improve the reliability of detection is to run several antivirus products on a given malware sample. There are several online scanning services, that implement this approach. However, for performance reasons these services only use the static signature detection functionality of the anti virus products, and thus do not take advantage of the full functionality of current antivirus engines. This book explains how to overcome this limitation and to build an efficient online malware scanning service that fully utilizes the capabilities of current antivirus engines. The Panic Virus (Paperback)

The Panic Virus (Paperback)

WHO DECIDES WHICH FACTS ARE TRUE? In 1998 Andrew Wakefield, a British gastroenterologist with a history of self-promotion, published a paper with a shocking allegation: the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine might cause autism. The media seized hold of the story and, in the process, helped to launch one of the most devastating health scares ever. In the years to come Wakefield would be revealed as a profiteer in league with class-action lawyers, and he would eventually lose his medical license. Meanwhile one study after another failed to find any link between childhood vaccines and autism. Yet the myth that vaccines somehow cause developmental disorders lives on. Despite the lack of corroborating evidence, it has been popularized by media personalities such as Oprah Winfrey and Jenny McCarthy and legitimized by journalists who claim that they are just being fair to “both sides” of an issue about which there is little debate. Meanwhile millions of dollars have been diverted from potential breakthroughs in autism research, families have spent their savings on ineffective “miracle cures,” and declining vaccination rates have led to outbreaks of deadly illnesses like Hib, measles, and whooping cough. Most tragic of all is the increasing number of children dying from vaccine-preventable diseases. In The Panic Virus Seth Mnookin draws on interviews with parents, public-health advocates, scientists, and anti-vaccine activists to tackle a fundamental question: How do we decide what the truth is? The fascinating answer helps explain everything from the persistence of conspiracy theories about 9/11 to the appeal of talk-show hosts who demand that President Obama “prove” he was born in America. The Panic Virus is a riveting and sometimes heart-breaking medical detective story that explores the limits of rational thought. It is the ultimate cautionary tale for our time.
