Defragmentation–Why I can not continue to defragment the disk?

It is known to all that defragmentation can speed up the system. But, have you ever been puzzled that the defragmentation is interrupted suddenly and can not continue any more? If so, you cannot miss this article because it can help you solve this problem.

Before conducting defrag, in the first place, it is better for you to scan the disks in case the track and files are broken or missing. And, you should close down all the programs that are running reading and writing operations to the disks, for example, the anti-virus software may hinder the defragmenting process. That is to say, the disk cleaning program cannot continue if any reading and writing operation is running.

If such problem happens, it is likely that you have set that Windows manage the virtual memory automatically. Since it manages for a period of time, Windows can alter the virtual memory automatically. So the cleaning disk program has to clear up the hard disk from the very beginning. In order to defragment smoothly, you should force your Windows’ automatic management of virtual memory or to set a fixed value.

Besides, you also have to check whether you have set screensaver or not. When the system has finished 10% of defragmenting process, then the screensaver is open, your computer has to clean up from the beginning again. Therefore, you are supposed to close down the screensaver so as to let other background programs complete defragmentation. After doing that, you can start the “Disk Defragmenter” in the Windows to see whether it get right or not.

But, since the cleaning program of Windows is not efficient enough, I recommend you to turn to other professional defrag program, which can save your time and energy a lot.
