Do popcap games really bring in adware. What exactly is adware?

I was enjoying some of the popcap games in Pogo, but a tech was scanning and cleaning my pc he said they bring in adware. Is it really dangerous?

I cannot guarantee what other game distributors (like Gamehouse & Pogo) may include with their games, but I know that PopCap Games themselves ( at http://www.popcap.com ) DOES NOT INCLUDE SPYWARE.

However, I am aware that some of PopCap’s games (mostly the older games) will have an ad pop-up promoting some of their other games. THIS IS NOT ADWARE! The ad pop-ups come from the game itself upon quiting it… or more specifically, “shameless self-promotion”.

The ads are normally located at C:Program FilesPopCap Gameswin32ads & are completely self-contained… meaning that what you see in that folder are the only ads you’ll even see when the game brings up the pop-up ad. The game will not download any new ads to bug you with.

While PopCap games can be a little sensitive when it comes to data integrity. You could delete this folder or the contents of it (leaving only an empty folder), but I don’t suggest it as it could cause the game to stop working until your reinstall it.

All you can do is live with the pretty minimal ads.
